Videojet Introduces Thermal Inkjet Ink with Low Temperature Performance, No CMRs and 12-Month Shelf-Life

CHICAGO –  February 26, 2020 — Videojet Technologies, a global leader in coding, marking and printing solutions, has announced the global launch of Cool Black Solvent thermal inkjet (TIJ) ink to provide users with a 12-month cartridge shelf-life, excellent performance in low temperature environments and a no-CMR (carcinogens, mutagens or reproductive toxins) ink option.

Cool Black Solvent ink, also identified as WLK660083A, is a proprietary Videojet ethanol-based ink formulation packaged in genuine HP® cartridges. It was specifically designed for printing on non-porous packaging where high-quality codes, quick dry times and excellent adhesion with minimal maintenance are required. Cool Black Solvent ink delivers superior uptime in typical packaging environments and offers an industry-leading operational range of 5-40°C (41-104°F). The 12-month shelf-life of this ink allows more time for restocking and the use of more cost-effective shipping methods.

Designed mainly for primary packaging applications, Cool Black Solvent ink delivers high-quality codes on a wide range of materials, particularly on flexible packaging used for fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs); coated cartons and glossy labels used in high-end cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or other consumer goods; and blister packs and foils. This ink offers average dry times of approximately one second when printing alphanumeric codes on non-porous materials, and less than three seconds for bold text or 2D codes on those substrates.

Free of CMRs, Cool Black Solvent ink is part of the Videojet iQMarkTM line of supplies products that are responsibly designed and manufactured to maximize contrast, adhesion and uptime while meeting safety, environmental and regulatory requirements. Every batch is tested to ensure it meets strict quality control specifications. Videojet maintains tight control over raw materials and production processes to help ensure batch-to-batch consistency and enable quick response to regulatory compliance requests.

Manufactured by Videojet, Cool Black Solvent ink’s proprietary formulation is designed for use in the Videojet 8520, Wolke m610 advanced, Wolke m610 touch and Wolke m610 oem TIJ printers. These printers are capable of achieving high packaging line speeds without compromising print resolution. Their all solid-state design and lack of moving parts eliminate the need to replace wear parts, perform calibration or stock maintenance consumables. The only maintenance required is to wipe the cartridge print array and printhead. The result is that these printers provide exceptionally high throughput, while their compact design makes them easy to install in tight quarters on crowded packaging lines.

Sherry Washburn, Videojet Business Unit Manager for Supplies, said, “Cool Black Solvent ink is the latest addition to the Videojet family of TIJ inks, giving our customers more options for producing durable codes on products and packaging. Videojet continues to respond to demands for more environmentally-friendly inks that produce high-quality codes and meet the high-throughput demands of today’s FMCG manufacturers.”
